America - T minus 8 days and counting

After a long day, and a lot of hanging around, we have finally been granted our US visas.

The day started with catching one of the early commuter trains to London. The children were not too bad and quite enjoyed the journey, although we only just made it by 2 minutes!

It looks like chivalry is dead.

During the whole 1 hour journey to London, not one person on the train got up to offer their seat to a pregnant lady with a child. People are so selfish and too absorbed with themselves to notice (or care) what is going on around them. The tube journey was not any better. Glad we are not going to be doing that any more!

We managed to get to the Embassy 15 minutes before our allocated time.

One and a half hours later we finally got into the building, after standing around in a stationary queue. The security personnel here were no better - when Lana asked if there was anywhere she could sit down to rest, it was answered with "you can sit on the pavement".

Once inside it was a completely different story.

Within 5 minutes of entering and been given a ticket number we were in out first interview. This was just a case of handing over all the relevant paperwork and being fingerprinted.

Then, there was a 15 minute or so wait until we were called up for our second interview. This consisted of:

How long have you worked with you company?

What is your job?

What does your company do?

After then, I paid the fees and they gave me the visas.

America - here we come!!!

Wales

Sorry if this is a bit late (only 1 week!)
We all went back to Wales last week (20th Oct) to visit and say our farewell to family and friends. The journey down took it's customary 8 hours. I swear its getting worse and worse.
In 8 hours we could have flown to the US.
In 8 hours we could have driven to Stanstead, flown to Spain and booked into a hotel.
Gone are the days when we could do it in just over 4 hours. Mind you, the return journey was a lot more pleasant - only 4.5 hours.
Anyway, both Sophie and Arthur enjoyed it and behaved very well in the car.

Take care,
J
